Case Study: Tempo Run Preseason Livestream

Livestream Services

When Tempo Run set out to host the Northwest Indiana High School Cross Country Preseason show, they quickly realized the need for a dependable partner to handle the livestream, allowing their team to focus on the intricacies of the physical event. That’s where our Ozdyck Productions LLC came in. We were able to combine a couple of our services as a company - our expertise in sports production along with our Corporate Livestream production services.

Tasked with ensuring the broadcast ran seamlessly, we collaborated closely with Tempo Run to bring their vision to life. In this case study, we’ll explore how our expertise in live production met and exceeded their expectations, delivering a professional and engaging experience for their audience.

The Event

The event was the 2nd annual Northwest Indiana Cross Country Preseason show hosted by Tempo Run, held in Merrillville, Indiana, at Catch 22 Table and Tap. Its goal was to create a media presence in the fast-growing cross-country scene in the Northwest Indiana area and educate athletes.

The event was in-person with a networking portion, an educational panel portion, and a livestream. The livestream was not shown to the house but only for an online audience. Coaches were scheduled to come to our studio in the party room, where we set them up with a lav mic. Our talent was Northwest Indiana media legend Chris Mahlmann of GreatNews.Life.

Pre-Production

Ozdyck Productions LLC was tasked with building the show's look and feel as a part of our corporate live streaming services. Tempo Run gave us a lot of freedom to create a look that fits their brand without being too restrictive. The result was a clean graphics design that directly incorporated their previous marketing materials' colors and brand design cues. These on-air graphics included full-screen “slates” and lower thirds.

Some other considerations we had to consider were the event’s various sponsors and how we were to display them and bring value to them. We decided to show the sponsors in a logo slideshow loop in the upper right corner of the screen. This made the sponsors visible while still making the show look professional, and within the look we created.

Production

On the day of production, we had a crew of a camera operator, a director, a technical director, an audio engineer, and a stage manager capturing other parts of the event. We had a two-camera setup for the livestream - one being a static wide shot and the other being operated to get closeups.

With limited studio space, we had to travel light. We were able to engineer a show using a laptop, an eight-input/four-output video switcher, and Rode wireless microphones. Graphics were handled on the computer.

The Result

Beyond doing a show that benefited our community, the stream succeeded in the numbers. We streamed to Facebook due to the ease of access by the community and anyone who may want to watch later. Over the month after the stream, it has accumulated over 2,000 viewers.

It was a great way to kick off the 2024-2025 sports season with a great client like Tempo Run!
